21st May 2017
What a wonderful day we all had at the Banbury Triathlon - Sprint & Super Sprint and Relay. Somehow you always seem to be able to deliver the sunshine for us - thank you. Sunshine, fast times, a great atmosphere for competitors and spectators - what more could we want? Well, no temporary traffics lights on the course for one thing! However, you coped very well with this and therefore a special thank you to the marshals who gave you back your 'time delay,' and to our Race referee too, is in order. This year we had some hiccups with the race timing - and we know this is frustrating for you - we are talking to Stuweb (the race timing company) about this. The results, as there are, are available from our Results page and directly from www.stuweb.co.uk/ As always, if you loved swimming in the fabulous 50m open air, heated pool then remember, it opens to the public later this month. 16th May 2016 What a wonderful day we all had yesterday at the Banbury Triathlon - Sprint & Super Sprint. Sunshine and fast times and a great atmosphere for competitors and spectators. Thank you all for coming along whether to help, race or support - we love hosting this event just as much as you love racing it. A huge thank you to our marshals without whom we couldn't put this on for you. Results are available from our Results page and directly from www.stuweb.co.uk If you loved swimming in the fabulous 50m open air, heated pool then remember, it opens to the public later this month. 1st November 2015 We are delighted to announce that entries for the Banbury Triathlon – Sprint and Super Sprint – are now open. We are therefore delighted to announce that we will be offering a new Super Sprint distance within the Banbury Triathlon. Competitors now have the option of a 400m swim, 20km bike, 5km run distance event as an alternative to the full sprint distance of 750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run. With this focus in mind we are cancelling the Sibford Super Sprint Triathlon and the Lungbuster Duathlon. Competitors who have entered either of the cancelled events can transfer to the Banbury Triathlon (Super Sprint or Sprint) at no charge or receive a full refund. Competitors should email their preference to info@neversecondsportsevents.com by Sunday 10th May 2015. Important Update Following a site visit on Friday, we have regretfully concluded that we should cancel the Spring Forward Duathlon (22nd March). This decision is based on a number of factors including the ongoing building works of a nursery, which together have created a situation whereby we, as organisers, feel it is not entirely safe to race. We regret any inconvenience to you but reassure you that your safety is our paramount concern. October 2014 The Lungbuster Duathlon, scheduled for the 19th October has been cancelled. This is due to the low number of pre-entries which makes the event unviable. We are very disappointed, and apologise to those who have entered but we will be including the event in our 2015 calendar. 13 July 2014 Full results and 'make a date' Full results are now available on the event page. As you look back on this race, remember to make a date in your diary for our next event the Lungbuster Duathlon on Sunday 19th October. 12 July 2014 And the sun shone..... It's disappointing for those who had pre-entered and for ourselves as organisers, as we believe there is a place for such events in the race calendar and we are keen to encourage use of Banbury's fabulous open air pool. 7 July 2013 Sibford Super Sprint results now available. See the results page. A great afternoon of racing with some super fast times and many PBs. Thanks to all the competitors, marshals, officials and supporters who made such a wonderful day. Oh, and a big 'thank you' to who ever organised the weather! Keep your fingers crossed for the next event in our calendar - the Aquaman. 20/05/2013 Banbury Triathlon results now available on your results page. 22/03/2013 Heavy snow forecast! Unfortunately, like many other sporting events, the Spring Forward Duathlon has had to be cancelled on advice from our risk assessors. Okay - we know you could run in the snow and ice - but it's the bike course that poses the real danger because we know how hard you like to race! Please look at the Spring Forward event page for your transfer and refund options. 20/10/2012 What a great way to end the season! The Lungbuster Duathlon was a great success - with everyone enjoying the challenging course and the sun coming out (just) for the final run. Congratulations to everyone who took part and huge 'Thank Yous' to all the marshals and helpers. Results are available online on the Stuweb.co.uk site via their 'Results' page - or simply follow the link from our Results page. 24/08/2012 Unfortunately due to low numbers entering the Stinger Triathlon we have had to cancel this race. We are very disappointed but can re-assure you that our other races will remain on the calendar as scheduled. The atmosphere was fantastic, friendly and great fun. We had a couple of accidents out on the course but we can say that we have been in regular contact with the athletes involved and we are pleased to say that they are of high spirits and thank all the marshals and athletes who helped them when needed. It just goes to prove triathlon is one big happy family. Results have now been posted in the results page. 13/06/2012 Banbury Triathlon Start list and race information will be posted onto www.neversecondsportsevents.com website next week. *IMPORTANT* This years triathlon has a new two lap bike route, please read the race information when posted. 24/04/2012 *IMPORTANT* NEW BANBURY TRIATHLON DATE ANNOUNCED We are very sorry to have to tell you that, due to circumstances beyond our control, we have had to move the date of the Banbury Triathlon to Sunday 24th June. Unfortunately, the 50m open air pool at Woodgreen Leisure Centre, the venue for the race, needs essential repair work; and we were informed by Cherwell District Council on Friday that this work would not be completed in time for the race. Never Second Sports Events and Cherwell District Council have worked hard over the last 72hrs to ensure The Banbury Triathlon goes ahead and remains the flagship event for the opening of the open air pool. As athletes ourselves, we completely understand the impact this could have on you and your race planning. Therefore, and because of the importance of the Banbury Triathlon in the 2012 race calendar we have worked hard to secure this alternative date. The Banbury Triathlon will therefore now take place on Sunday 24 June 2012. 25/03/2012 Spring Forward Duathlon Well done everyone who raced at todays Spring Forward Duathlon, fantastic weather, superb marshals and awesome competitors. Banbury's fabulous 50m open-air pool again starred but this time the talking point was the multi-terrain 10km run ("sadistic" was one comment!). Congratulations to the winners and especially to those for whom the race was a first attempt at this distance. We hope you'll come back next year and bring your friends too. |
